Serious psychological trauma results from natural and man-made disasters. The wounding afflicts direct and indirect survivors and the first responders who come to their aid.
Since 1995, at the time of a terrorist bombing in Oklahoma City, Trauma Recovery/ Humanitarian Assistance Programs has brought mental health trauma specialists with evidence-based therapy to the scene of disasters, providing pro bono care to thousands. The Trauma Recovery Network® (TRN®) grew out of this tradition and now helps hundreds of skilled therapist/volunteers serve the communities affected by disasters through a comprehensive program of preparation, mitigation, rescue, and response.
TRNs have served after some of the following events:
Las Vegas shooting, NV
Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico
California wildfires
The Yarnell Arizona wildfires
Oklahoma and Alabama tornadoes
San Diego wildfires
Boston Marathon bombing
Hurricane Sandy in NY, NJ, CT
Sandy Hook shooting, CT
Columbine shooting, CO
Camp Fire in Northern California
